1. Individuals
under 1100 lbs and teams under 2200 lbs will be entered in the lightweight
division. The heavy weight class will be composed of
individuals above 1100lbs and teams above 2200 lbs.
Questions concerning weight may require that the competing animals
be weighed.
2. Belt Buckles and cash will be awarded as follows: Lightweight
individual mule, lightweight team (2) of mules, heavyweight
individual mule, heavyweight team (20 of mules, individual horse,
team (2) of horses. NO PRIZES WILL BE
AWARDED UNLESS THERE ARE TWO COMPETITORS OR MORE IN ANY
DIVISION.
3. Pulling
distance shall be 15 feet.
4. Width of the pulling area will be 20 feet. Violation of
the pulling area occurs when the mule touches the line markers.
5. A weight for beginning qualifying pull will be agreed upon by all
pullers.
6. Two hookers plus a driver will be allowed. All helpers
must stay behind the eveners and remain silent once the team is
hooked.
7. All entries, individual and teams, will pull in rotation.
The handler may skip the beginning or subsequent pulls.
8. Three succeeding attempts to hook the sled will constitute a
pull. The time must not exceed three minutes to get hooked.
9. Each team will be allowed three trials at each weight
testing. A trial constitutes the moving of the sled in any
direction. Each time the sled is moved a trial will be
called and thes teak moved ahead if necessary.

Mistreatment of animal will not be tolerated. Pulling the
team back against the sled, jumping or lunging into a start will
not be allowed. The load must be pulled in a straight
direction and not "seesaw".
11. Any
team or individual that the judge feels may endanger the
spectators or other teams or drivers may be excused from the
pulling area by the judge. If a team runs away during the
contest free from any drivers and helpers, it is automatically
excluded from further competition.

Drivers will draw numbers and pull in order of number drawn.
13. Team may
be tied together with check lines only. Hitching with cross
tugs will be prohibited.
14. Bridles
may be open faced or with blinders. No change may be made
after the contest starts.
15. Breakage of harness or any other equipment will constitute a
pull with the distance being credited to the team. Five
minutes shall be allowed for repair with the team remaining in the
pulling area.
16. Behavior of all horsemen (drivers and helpers) will be above
reproach at all times or disciplinary action will be taken by the
judge. Anyone disputing the decision of the judges will be
immediately disqualified.
17. Neither the sponsors nor the track owners nor anyone else
involved in any way with this mule pull will be responsible for
any accident which may occur to any participants, their teams, or
their belongings.
